Welcome to the Whoniverse!

Our tag line says it all, really... The Worlds of the Doctor... all in one Whoniverse. Our goal is to be the definitive portal to some of the best Doctor Who and related web sites around.

The Millennium Effect is the unequalled Doctor Who reference site and home to more arcane information than you'll find anywhere else on the web.

Now boasting over 900 suggestions for extras on official Doctor Who DVD releases, Time Rotor: The Doctor Who DVD Databank continues to grow every day with more input from fans like you. Browse over and check it out.

The first of our guides cataloguing the minutia of Doctor Who spin-off series, Torchwood Guide is done in the style of a discontinuity guide, making it easy to use as an armchair guide when viewing the series or just to browse for interesting factiods.

The Sarah Jane Guide is also now up and running, tracking the adventures of the intrepid reporter and her new young friends as she investigates mysteries on CBBC.

We also welcome aboard a new editor and the fantastically funny Blackcastle.co.uk. Everyone knows Martha was not the Doctor's ethnic companion, right? If not check out the further adventures of Sharon, from the ironically named Blackcastle.

And new for 2008, Alan Hayes lifts the lid on the tapezines of old as we take a fresh look at an important part of fandom in the 70s and 80s. The Tapezine Matrix has it all, with exclusive interviews with some of the leading lights of the era...

We are also proud to host the online repository of cover designs by the extraordinarily talented Lee Johnson.

You'll also find our sister sites: Nothing at the End of the Lane is the acclaimed magazine of Doctor Who research and restoration and Return to Kendal our fun-filled musical charity extravaganza.

We're always growing and added new articles and sites, be sure not to miss anything by subscribing to our RSS feed. But, for now sit back and start to explore the Whoniverse...

01/01 — Big TME update of the week, Part II Posted by Matt

Still reeling from last night’s updates? Or from the launch of the fantastic Tapezine Matrix?

Well, it’s time for the second of our three massive updates to The Millennium Effect this week… Alongside another entry into the Games Guide (we missed the very fun 2007 fan game ‘Robot’ by accident yesterday!) and thirty more entries in Who on TV, we are proud to announce the return of a website that some had thought disappeared into obscurity…

Created in 2001 and updated in 2004, Doctor Who Gateway is still one of the best places to learn about the return of missing episodes and clips… and it’s now a part of The Millennium Effect!

Available through these three routes:
www.millenniumeffect.co.uk/gateway
www.dwgateway.co.uk
www.millenniumeffect.co.uk - click through the “VIDEO” section of the sidebar

…believe it or not, there’s still one big TME update to happen this week!

Welcome to 2008 everyone!

31/12 — A New Site at The Whoniverse: The Tapezine Matrix Posted by Alan

Back in the 1980s, before the internet, before websites, podcasts and blogs, Doctor Who fandom was very different. We’d get up in the morning half an hour before we went to bed, eat a bowl of cold gravel… Oh, wait… That’s something else… No, back the pre-internet age, we’d watch our letterboxes for fanzines, newsletters and (the horror) letters from Doctor Who pen pals! And some of us thought that was all a bit dull (either that, or we were slow typists) and produced Doctor Who magazines on audio cassette… Yes, tapezines! Remember them? No? Well, The Tapezine Matrix lifts the lid on them, explores what made ‘em tick and how they were put together. There’s no other website like it. Take a look, and you’ll see why! ;)

30/12 — Big TME update of the week, Part I Posted by Matt

Several huge updates to The Millennium Effect will be happening this week. We’re excited. Can you tell? These party hats aren’t just to ring in 2008, you know!

Here’s what’s happened tonight alone…

Computer Games and Who on TV

First are some updates to existing sections… Five new computer games (all from 2007, plus a couple of minor updates to older ones) and dozens of new entries into Who on TV which bring the latter section to a total of 1,100! (With another 250 to come over the next month, as promised, including some extremely rare items from yesteryear).

    New section! Disused Yeti Archive

Next up… remember Change of Identity and Disused Yeti? No? Dear me, did you miss the 90s entirely? These exciting newsletters charted the history of the golden age of Reconstructions and provided lots of interesting insights into the b/w era of Who in general. For years they’ve been tucked away quietly online, but have now been brought out and dusted down to share with a wider audience once more. TME presents Disused Yeti: The Archives.

    New section! TV Technology

And last but not least, TME is proud to present a series of articles written back in the mists of time by VidFIRE creator Peter Finklestone, which explain some of the more technical aspects of early TV technology in terms that the likes of you and I can understand. Another gem unearthed and dusted off by TME, we are extremely happy that these wonderful articles can once again be seen by a large audience…

And that’s not all - come back later in the week for more TME updates. Not to mention updates at sarahjaneguide and torchwoodguide, and the aforepromised launch of a whole new site.

Erm, we are celebrating New Year here in Whoniverse Towers, right guys…? Erm, guys?…
